Is anyone else not really able to taste alcohol?

I want to clarify that I do somewhat taste it, but it’s mostly the burning sensation that lets me know I’m drinking alcohol. It has to be pretty strong for me to be able to taste it, and if it’s mixed with something, I basically can’t taste it at all. I’ve had vodka on it’s own recently, and while I could feel the burning sensation and could somewhat taste the alcohol, I think I scared my friends a little from the fact that I almost had no reaction on my face lol. I swear, if it weren’t for the burning sensation, I’d possibly mistake it for water or something I fear lmao. I’m confused by this and also a little concerned.
