Somehow drinking with others always turns to shit is this normal?

A couple nights ago there was a group of us drinking at a buddy’s house everything was going good then out of no where one of them just starts to fucking cry in the middle of the group. As that is going on someone else is getting chased becuase they accidentally spilled a drink on the other person “ .I go outside to get sum fresh out at about 2 am and there is my drunk ass nebior talking to another one of my friends about how his dead dad was a piece of shit and asshole like it’s a normal thing to do. I go back inside confused asf as to what i just saw and heared to walk into the friends mom “we are at her house” basically screaming at the top of her lungs how she hates her son and how he is a fuck up. When i thought it couldn’t get any worse someone else in the basement was lighting candles in a circle and supposedly made contact with the devil and was freaking the fuck out. Luckly i lived only a couple houses away so i ended up just walking home.

I was really drunk but even I realized in the moment that this is not normal and not a fun time at all. I was wondering if this is a normal thing to happen when people are drinking in a group or if I just need to start hanging around different people
