How long does it actually take to develop withdrawal symptoms?
I’ve been a heavy drinker for the past 7 years. There would be very few periods where I would stop, a couple of times for a month at the longest. but especially the last four years has been pretty much every single day with the very occasional day or two I would go without (I physically needed it to sleep). Usually about 7-8 drinks a day but at my worst more like 10-15 a day. For a lot of this I would start first thing in the morning. When I wouldn’t have alcohol during the day at work my hands would be a little bit shaky and trembly but nothing major. I decided to stop for good about a month ago because I’m having a kid and I was a little bit scared about withdrawal because by that point it had been years since I’ve gone more than 2 days without alcohol but nothing happened. I didn’t really have any withdrawal symptoms other than cravings and maybe a shitty mood. I was just able to stop with no issues. Did I just get extremely lucky or is it actually a lot harder to drink yourself into extreme withdrawals and dts than I thought?
