How much damage does daily heavy drinking for 2.5 years cause?

I (24 F) have been a heavy daily drinker since December of 2020. I struggle a LOT with mental health, always have, and substance abuse runs in the family. It’s a serious problem and I’ve known it is an addiction from the first drink, I’m not denying that I am an alcoholic.

99% of what I drink is vodka and I go through a 1.75 bottle every 3-5 days (usually closer to 3 or 4). The only times I’ve had something other than vodka was when I dipped into other people’s cabinets (house sitting and when I was living with my parents, then it’s whatever the strongest thing I can find) but I only ever buy vodka. It’s hard to measure exactly how much I drink each night because I don’t always use a shot glass and I don’t keep track of how many times I drink in a night. If I had to estimate, I’d have to say I rarely drink less than 8 shots but that’s just a guess and it definitely depends on how late in the day I start. If I get home late from work (like 10pm), I’ll still stay up late to drink my normal amount rather than just going to bed. It is usually all within a short amount of time, typically with dinner. I plan my dinner to be strong flavored food that won’t absorb too much alcohol, so anything that helps get rid of the awful alcohol taste after each shot but won’t affect how fast I start to feel intoxicated. In the first few months I had a really bad problem with day drinking (like starting right at wake-up sometimes) but it’s been a long time since that’s been a problem. I do still spend the day looking forward to getting drunk at night though.

I blackout most nights but have pretty minor hangovers, usually I feel fine by the time I get to work around 9 am. I usually just wake up thirsty and will be nauseous/dry heaving until I eat food. However, I often wake up with injuries and bruises I have no memory of. If I am very sick, it’s because I forgot my night meds and it gives me withdrawal.

I have not been to a doctor in a very long time, since before drinking at least, I am hoping to find a doctor and schedule an appointment next week to get blood work done to see how much I have damaged my body over the past few years of heavy drinking. I know that I won’t really know until I actually get tests done, but I was wondering if people might have any ideas of what they would guess the damage might be. Is liver failure inevitable, or could I live a healthy life if I stop drinking soon? For more context, I am 4’11” and 220 lbs, I gained a lot of weight when I started drinking (which is one of the factors motivating me to try getting sober). I also take medications each night for mental health but will not name them here for privacy reasons.

Are there any tests I should ask for in addition to the bloodwork? Any advice to keep in mind as I look for a doctor?

Please be kind and nonjudgmental, I promise any negative comments you have is already something I say to myself on a daily basis.

And yes, I would like to get sober. I absolutely hate what my life has become, maybe my next post will be to ask for sobriety advice. This is my first Reddit post, so hopefully it’s alright.
