I gave up alcohol for a couple of months. This is what I found out.

Moderately heavy drinker. 4 to 5 nights a week, usually the equivalent of a bottle of wine. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I was told that I wouldn’t know myself after giving it up, would have so much more energy and focus. I felt…the same. Sleep was the same. Focus was the same. Happiness was the same. Energy the same. No discernible difference to health or wellbeing. The only major thing I noticed was a bit more cash in the wallet. Despite the drinking, I usually keep very fit and active and eat reasonably well, so this might have helped. Maybe a few more months might have made a difference? But yeah, back to normal now and feeling fine.
