Do people actually enjoy the taste of beer???

I have never understood how people enjoy drinking beer. Obviously the effects of drinking are fun, but I would rather take a bunch of shots and get the taste over with than spend an evening sipping liquid sourdough.

Is beer really just an acquired taste? Do people actually like the taste of it, or do they just like being drunk?? I feel like everyone around me is pretending.
