Introvert+Alcohol=Extrovert (Help)

I can’t find any credible sources or scholarly research linking introverts to alcohol abuse to become more of an extrovert.

I can’t answer simple text messages during the week, but I will make best friends with a stranger on a Saturday while drinking. I do, and have always, despised the thought of being around others, especially when conversation is expected (yuck). When I’m drinking, however, I can very quickly become the social butterfly of the room, and without making a fool of myself. This has actually become a dangerous habit and I find it difficult to function socially (Thanksgiving, other holidays) without drinking; I was never comfortable in these situations, even before being introduced to alcohol. I’ve finally come to this realization and can’t find any research or relatable posts online to seek assistance.

Note: I’m not in a dangerous situation nor am I physically dependent on alcohol. I’m simply noticing patterns and want to be more comfortable around others while sober, and save the alcohol for special occasions like a “normal” person.
