0.0% alcohol on the advertisement more striking than on the mandatory part of the beer… misleading ad?
I was supposed to buy a bottle of Beck’s Gold for a colleague late at night at a gas station in germany. When I looked at the back of the bottle, I thought it was alcohol-free because it cost €2.22. The can that was in the refrigerator next to it cost €2.20, also 0.5 liters with the same alcohol content, but without misleading advertisement, which is why I thought the can was with alcohol, the bottle without.
I almost put the bottle away again until I took a closer look. I tried to explain my situation to the cashier, but he only said that it is with alcohol and not alcohol-free, so he did not understand what I was trying to say at all.
I just don’t want people to die i.E. unintentionally driving intoxicated because of misleading advertisement, nor do I want now sober alcoholics to possibly go back into their addiction, even though they shouldn’t drink that is similar to beer at all.
In my opinion this borders on misleading advertising… but who am I to say that. Welcome to germany, because this is all legal. Beck’s and their lawyers know what they’re doing.
