How to drink bitters

I’m new to drinking and my friend gave me some aromatic bitters, I was going to just take a sip and be done but after noticing it comes out in drops I got worried about how strong it is and am wondering the best way to go about drinking it. I do not mind the taste of alcohol and the smell of the bitters is very pleasant so I do not need anything to water it down, just wondering if it’s safe to sip like any old liquor or if it’s something more.
