Do bars wash the outside of limes before putting them in the garnish tray?

I get the sense that bars don’t wash the limes or other fruit. Is this true?

If so, shouldn’t I be concerned about the contamination from dunking a garnish in my drink?

Lately, I’ve been squeezing my garnish then putting it in the trash instead of my drink.
