Experimenting with my withdrawls
I decided one day to just not drink after drinking 12+ beers a day for years. And o timed to see if I would get withdrawals and how bad they would be. DISCLAIMER: I always kept 5 beers on my desk for safety reasons and a friend with 911 ready, I wouldn’t recommend experimenting, but I can’t stop you
First experiment: (how long can i not drink?) At around 13 hours with no alcohol (only water) I start to shake, but I can continue. 16 hours; the shaking is getting so bad I can’t control a computer mouse, but I still wait. 16.5 hours; my whole body starts wanting to tense up and I start blacking out, so I give in and drink. My body sucked down the beers like it was water in the desert
Second experiment: (drastically lower my daily intake) THE FIRST DAY; I only drank 2 beers, slowly over the course of a couple movies, then went to bed (Only outcome: I had trouble sleeping and was shaking a little bit) THE SECOND DAY: I told my boss my experiment at work, and he gave me a pass to run out to my truck and grab a drink if need be, as long as I’m away from the other employees. I spend the whole day shaking, but work distracted me a little bit. I started getting itchy, thinking it might’ve been dirt, I didn’t think muck, but it gradually got worse as the day ended. But the time I got home, I was scratching like a sunburn without the pain. I slowly drank 2 more before bed, didn’t change anything, I was still itchy, but I got no sleep. THE THIRD DAY: I arrive to work, scratching up a storm. Shaking a little bit but managed to finish the work day before needing another drink. Drank 3 that night. When I got into bed however, I started to feel like my sheets were infested with fruit flies, and fleas. Upon further inspection, I saw no bugs were ingrained in my sheets, none on my skin either. It became 2 nights without sleep. THE FOURTH DAY: I get to work, slapping these “bugs” off me like I was standing in a cloud of mosquitos. I went to my work buddy to ask if there was any bugs on my face, there was none. I called it quits there and drank 12 when I got home. My tolerance as lower than before
-Third experiment: (the shameless episode) I saw an episode of shameless where one of the main characters (Frank) decided to stop drinking to get money from an experiment, he stopped his withdrawals by eating a bunch of candy with his daughter, and it worked. So I decided to try, but kept extra precautions (I bought 2 big bags of mixed candies, left out no beer, and had my buddy present and keep 911 handy) so I waited (the same time as the first experiment) until my shakes turn to my body wanting to tense. I started eating handfuls of mixed candies, after a while, it helped, but didn’t slow down the withdrawals. Maybe I should’ve started eating candies when I started wanting a drink, so maybe that experiment was a bust.
Comment if you want to see how else I can experiment, but for now I’m going to continue weening off of alcohol
TL;DR: I can’t stop drinking for long If I only have small amounts, i withdrawl differently And I need to redo the candy experiment from that shameless episode.
