Does this happen to anyone else?

So I don’t drink very often. Usually just on the occasional night out with friends. But I’ve noticed most times when I drink, even if I’m not having a lot, at the end of the night my body goes through a really intense cycle. It always starts with my muscles making me shake involuntarily, and the intensity steadily builds up until it physically forces me to throw up. Once I vomit, the shaking eases up for a brief moment, but then it starts building right back up again, forcing another wave of vomiting.

The strangest part is that I don’t even have to feel nauseous or sick to my stomach when the shaking starts, but I’ve learned that the moment I feel that first tremor, throwing up is 100% unavoidable. I don’t think this is a normal hangover or a case of drinking too much, because it happens even when I feel completely sober or barely tipsy. And everyone I’ve talked to about this has never experienced the shaking.

Just recently, I paced myself over four to five hours and only had four drinks total, two vodkas with flavored water and two vodka shots. I did everything you’re supposed to do. I ate plenty of food like sliders, chips, cheese, and cookies, and I drank a massive amount of fluids, over 1.7 gallons (6.5 liters) of water mixed with electrolyte packets throughout the whole day. Despite all that prep, the violent shaking and vomiting cycle still happened out of nowhere. I wasn’t drunk and felt coherent when all of a sudden I started getting shivers it built and you can figure the rest. Threw up twice even though I never felt super nauseous I only felt sick a little while after bc my stomach was very irritated. And the next morning I was fine, just slightly irritated stomach. I’ve had this happen multiple times in the past and so far it’s completely unpredictable, and it feels like maybe my nervous system is just crashing and rejecting the alcohol entirely.

So I don’t know why this happens or if it’s normal. It doesn’t seem normal so I’m debating asking a doctor about it. Does anyone else have a similar experience?
