Are beverages like Alcolo and Buzzball Chillers essentially pointless other than for regulatory loopholes?

Just to give you a perspective, a 4 x 12oz pack of Cutwater is about $13 in Oregon, out the door, but Oregon is an ABC state, so, they are only sold at state liquor stores.

Over in Washington one state up, all can be sold in grocery stores, but spirits have two taxes. 20.5% of retail price + $3.77 per product liter regardless of ABV, so RTD cocktails made up of distilled spirits is the state’s cream of crop. You’re going to be paying $3.77/L “liter tax” whether it’s a 4.5% High Noon or 100 proof vodka. However, if it’s never been distilled, they’re not subject to this absurd level of taxes. So, the same Cutwater ends up costing $20 or so in Washington quite often.

Things that have never been distilled, like White Claw and Alcolo are subject to just 25 cents per gallon + normal taxes that apply to soda and everything else.

Other than government regulation loopholes, do products like White Claw have any reason to exist over mixer + vodka type products?
