Review: 2024 Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
Since Duckhorn acquired the Sonoma-Cutrer winery in 2024, we’ve watched the operation shift and evolve. Today we check in to see how things are progressing with a look at one of its most visible whites: Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay Sonoma Coast.
Spoiler: Somebody hit the oak button a few too many times this year, as this 2024 chardonnay is way over the top when it comes to vanilla and coconut cream notes — quite over the top, really. Aggressive on the attack, serving this ice cold helps coax out a little lemon character, especially on the finish, though otherwise the wine can feel decidedly one-note. I thought we were past the days of overt oak bombs, but remaining fans of the style should take note. C / $25
