Looking for advice: Should I drink one last time before quitting, or just quit now?

I’m looking for some outside opinions because I’m honestly torn about what to do.

I have a long weekend starting tomorrow that I could use for a short vacation. The thing is, I don’t really feel like going on vacation that much. I don’t dislike the idea, but I’m also perfectly happy staying home.

The bigger issue is alcohol.

I originally planned to make one day after the long weekend my quit date and stop drinking for good. I was initially thinking of using this long weekend as one last opportunity to get really drunk before quitting.

But now that the weekend is actually here, I honestly don’t really want to drink that badly. I feel like I could stay sober for the next few weeks without much difficulty.

The weird thing is that I’m now considering getting drunk anyway because I’m afraid that if I quit a few days earlier than planned, then several weeks or months from now, when cravings get stronger, I’ll somehow use that as an excuse to break my commitment. Part of me is thinking, “If I have one last big drinking weekend exactly as planned, then I’ll have no excuse later because I already got my final drinking opportunity.”

At the same time, I don’t really want to go on vacation if I’m going to be sober the whole time. In my head, a vacation has become associated with drinking, so I’d rather just stay home and be sober than go somewhere and feel like I’m missing out because I can’t drink.

For some context, my drinking history is pretty long. I’ve been drinking on and off for around 11 years, sometimes occasionally and sometimes as a binge drinker. More recently, I’ve been drinking regularly—roughly one 700 mL bottle of vodka weekly on a regular basis for the past 3 months. My drinking pattern has varied, but there have definitely been periods of heavy/binge drinking.

So my question is:

What would you do in my situation?

Would you:

Have the final drinking weekend as originally planned and then quit?

Skip the drinking entirely and consider quitting a few days earlier than planned?

Stay home sober rather than take a vacation that I don’t really want to take without alcohol?

Or approach the whole situation differently?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have successfully quit after years of drinking, and whether having a specific “last day” actually helped you or whether it was better to just stop right away.

I know ultimately it’s my decision, but I’d really appreciate some honest perspectives.
