Anxiety after sipping one drink.
Hello, I am just here for some advice. I have been anxious about drinking so bad. Not in a sense of like “I’m too scared to drink to much” but like so much anxiety over just the second the alcohol touches my tongue.
I am almost 22 and love to hang out with my friends and want to feel included. They shmoke (I’m a green out kinda person and have just accepted it and not wanting to try again any time soon) but they also will have a few drinks ever so often. I would love to go out and drink with them but as of March-ish, everytime I take a single sip of alcohol I instantly feel nauseous and anxious. I had a full panic attack at dinner and almost passed out at the table due to how bad I was freaking out.
I just want to be able to hang you know? Like I just want to have fun. I have had fun dinking with them last year and only had the spins once. But that’s where I believe it all started. I had the spins new years and haven’t been able to drink since. I never threw up and I wasn’t even really hungover the next day? (Prolly still drunk tbh) but it wasn’t ever something that gave me to much stress.
What can I do to help overcome this and feel like I’m fitting in and not feel like a literal buzz kill?
(DISCLAIMER: my friends wouldn’t and have never ever try to purposefully try to make me feel like I’m a buzz kill or left out but I always feel like I am. I just want to go to the bar and have some drinks with my girls 😭)
