Review: Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 10 Years Old Spring 2026 Edition

When it shipped in July 2026, the delay of the spring 2026 edition of Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond was hardly a surprise. These releases invariably hit the market at least a season too late, and Heaven Hill doesn’t seem overly concerned about changing the names of the whiskeys to align with reality.

The first release of 2026 is one of the younger wheated bourbon offerings in the series, all made from stock produced in the spring of 2016. Here we go.

Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 10 Years Old Spring 2026 Edition Review

Old Fitzgerald has a reputation for softness, but this expression immediately strikes the nose as even quieter than typical, with the trademark brown banana dominant, layered lightly with cinnamon and nutmeg. A breakfast bowl of oatmeal is not far from the mark, complete with a lightly doughy character that furthers the impression of a morning meal.

The palate is extremely bright and pretty, a chewy dive into nougat and coconut cream, with layers of banana pudding dolloped on top. There’s a ton of vanilla present, all classic elements of the Old Fitz playbook (especially more youthful expressions like this). Hints of orange cream soda add some root beer notes add a more mid-afternoon quality to the experience, but it isn’t until late in the game when some more savory elements finally perk up, with just the lightest hints of barrel char, anise, and torched brassicas. The inherent sweetness of the whiskey fades into a slightly fruity quality on the finish, but only just so, leaving the consumer with an impression of Old Fitz at its absolute gentlest — at least so far.

100 proof.
