Review: 2024 Azevedo Loureiro Alvarinho Vinho Verde DOC
Shop wisely and you can find this vinho verde for $10 or less, though it’s admittedly not the most expressive example of the style. Modest notes of lime inform a palate that leans on mango and guava rather than the brightly acidic citrus which vinho verde is known for. A little warmth helps the rather creamy wine to settle into a groove that finds a touch of minerality, enough to offset its occasionally gummy texture. Those tropical notes build to a crescendo on the finish, however, a burst of pineapple leading the way out.
B+ / $10
