Review: 2022 Aesthetic Cabernet Sauvignon California

A “California” designation on a bottle of cabernet sauvignon is usually a kiss of budgety death, but this wine combats expectations from the jump.

Aesthetic’s 2022 cab is easily mistakeable for a midrange Napa release, juicy with plums and currants en route to notes of baking spice, dusted with orange peel and touched lightly with oak. A hint of bay leaf gives the finish a slightly savory bent, though the sweetness of the currant notes wavers only slightly. The finish evokes chocolate sauce, Hershey’s, with a sharp touch of cherry.

A very solid choice for the price.
