Contact dermatitis from drinking alcohol?

I’m not a regular drinker these days but have been drinking for the past ten years with no problems.

Recently I was drinking at a wedding and woke up with a noticeable rash above the upper corners of my lips (where the glass would touch your face). It took a few days to fully go away.

Two nights ago I had only two wine coolers and I woke up yesterday with the same rash.

Will I be okay if I just use a straw from now on or is something else happening here? I’ve done a bit of googling and a quick search of this sub and can’t find another example of this phenomenon. What I do see is people getting perioral dermatitis or histamine allergy rashes on different parts of their face and body.

My skin isn’t usually very sensitive. I did get a patch of nummular eczema on my wrist prior to the wedding which has been flaring up and down since (maybe sixish weeks). I have also dealt with contact dermatitis on my hands before due to repeated exposure to harsh chemicals.

Anyone know what’s going on here?
