Alcohol history and regions

I’m currently studying for the total wine and more Total Spirits Professional exams with just one left – whiskey. I never understood the history of alcohol but I find it so interesting. Does anyone know any ways to get connected with alcohol connoisseurs or learn more? I want to take a trip on the American Whiskey trail but want to keep learning first. Thanks in advance!
