Genuine question that I cannot find an answer to.

Hello, maybe someone on here can help answer a sneaking suspicion I had or point out that what I’m facing is just pure coincidence. About a week ago I bought a 12 pack of Twisted Tea. But, uh oh, it seems it was a bad batch. I opened a can and took a big gulp, not thinking it would taste any different than what I’m used to. This may sound gross, but the best way I can describe what I tasted was what a wet dead rat smells like. I opened a second can to see if this was a repeat or just a one can thing, same result. The day after that day, I started feeling sick. Later this became worse until now, where I’ve developed a lung infection. My question is: Can a drink that’s either expired or contaminated cause this to happen, or is this just an unfortunately timed coincidence?
