Review: NV Cantine Maschio Zero White Sparkling
Largely known for its easy-going line of Prosecco, Cantine Maschio enters the non-alcoholic arena with this dealcoholized white sparkling variation on a classic spring/summer sipper. There’s an opening lemon note giving the wine immediate lift, but it threatens to present as “cleaning supplies” or “lemonhead soda”, especially when pouring multiple servings in the same proximity. Thankfully, it is followed by green apple and a soft minerality, which adds a little texture and interest amidst the gentle bubbles. A light floral note peeks through as it settles, while hints of rosemary and white pepper linger gently on the finish. It’s approachable and easy to enjoy, striking a clean balance making it feel more refreshing than restrained. Crack this open at brunch with a sleeve over the bottle and see if anyone can tell the difference. Or serve in a spritz. Either way, NA fans will be pleased with this offering.
