Whiskey recommendations (gift)

I don’t drink alcohol and never really have— I’d appreciate a whiskey recommendation for one that is as my brother described “balanced, not too light and maybe orange flavored” (?) The orange is not absolutely necessary, he was just giving me a suggestion but it didn’t really help to narrow it down because I’m not familiar with alcohol at all. I figured I could get some great recommendations here. The gift is for a family member in their mid 50s if that helps.

Any suggestions that are not necessarily whiskey could work too. Looking for something that isn’t basic but not over the top either.
