Beer has new taste

Recently I’ve been able to taste the ethanol in my beer. It’s a very slight taste. I still taste the flavor of beer but it has a slight ethanol aftertaste. I know the taste of ethanol because of everclear. Any idea why I’m able to taste it all of a sudden. The only change I’ve had was taking a break from alcohol about 10 days ago.
