Question about alcohol tolerance

Hello! I’m a 5’1 female who doesn’t heavily drink (only about once a month for parties i throw) I noticed that a friend (male 5’10) will go drink for drink and I’ll be able to hold my alcohol much better than him. For example, last night I had about 15 drinks (while he tapped at 10) and I was still coherent, and not hungover this morning.. and him on the other hand is passed out on my couch right now haha.

Is tolerance genetic? I always assumed it was by body mass
