Why does beer get me drunk very quick but I borderline cannot get drunk off spirits

I am a big pint drinker but admittedly can be drunk off only 4. Whereas I can chug a half bottle of wine followed by a half bottle of vodka then countless drinks in the club and remain near to sober. Is there a reason for this? Its frustrating cos I dont want to be drunk in the pub (pints) but do want to be drunk in the club (spirits).
