Mint Julep recipe

My spouse and I have been getting into making more cocktails recently and I’m interested in making some mint juleps and watching the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

I have everything I need, but I was wondering if I could use Mint infused simple syrup instead of regular simple syrup? I love mint (mint divines, mojitos, etc) so I’m not opposed to it beign very minty and strong.

But what do other seasoned cocktail makers think? Is this a thing or would it not mix well with the bourbon? We’re using maker’s mark if that helps.
