Bartenders pour heavier when…

Some observations on how to maximize the amount of alcohol that bartenders put in my mixed drinks:

-Instead of paying a buck more for call vodka, get well vodka and tip the extra buck on top of your usual tip. Bartenders might have more discretion to overpour well than the more expensive stuff. And the tip signals them that you care more about taking care of them than your finicky palate. If you are a whiskey drinker I dunno what to tell you 🤷‍♂️

-Go to dive bars and avoid corporate controlled bars.

-Ask for a tall glass. More room for alcohol and you don’t get dehydrated.

-Go on a weekday. On weekdays the regulars who come for the alcohol outnumber the amateurs who come for the vibe. Bartenders get into grooves.

-If you tip well consistently, bartenders will want to keep you happy.

-Be a good customer who doesn’t make trouble. Be patient, be cool, be kind. Don’t cash out every round.
