Partner and I becoming allergic to alcohol at the same time

Over the last 6-8 months my boyfriend and I (22M & 22F) have noticed that when we start drinking any type of alcohol (wine, liquor, beer, etc) we get red all over our faces, chest and arms. We get hives really itchy on our face and arms as well. It settles after 15-20 minutes and we feel fine again for the most part. My boyfriend has also ran into the issue where he goes from good happy drunk to bathroom floor vomiting drunk within one drink. I don’t drink enough alcohol at one time to know if I get like this too. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Neither of us never had these symptoms before, and we drink regularly. We still drink, we just accept we’ll be uncomfortable for the first bit. It’s just odd that we both started experiencing these exact same symptoms at the same time.
