Drinking thickens saliva?

I don’t do well with hard alc and such, I usually stick to beer, cider, and white claws. Every time I take a drink, it thickens my saliva to the point where I have to constantly spit. I’m relatively hydrated and never on too empty of a stomach. Anyone relate or have an idea why? Thanks
