Frozen rum??

My mom got me a bottle of rum yesterday (it’s 1:06am) and I just took it out of the freezer to make another drink and it was slush. It’s 40% the bottle says but anything I’m finding online says it only does that at 30% or lower so I’m like????? What??? Has anyone else experienced your alcohol freezing??
