Old whiskey bottle information?

I bought this whiskey bottle yesterday from an antique store, it was labeled as a “prohibition era bottle”. After doing more research, it seems like this bottle was made after the prohibition as it has the bottle mark of “federal law prohibits sale or reuse of this bottle”, but I am not positive about this.
Does anyone know if there’s still a chance this actually was a prohibition bottle? If not, how old is this?? And is it worth anything?
Finally, does anyone know what the deal is with the metal cage around it? There is no way to remove it, and I was curious what the purpose was. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Note: I tried to post this to r/whiskey but I did not realize it is against their rules to ask for dating of a bottle. If this is the wrong subreddit, or if you think there is a better subreddit for me to get my questions answered, please let me know!
