Help identifying alcohol quality

So I’m not sure where to ask so I’ll just ask here. I got this as a birthday present and I hadn’t heard of merlot before. I rarely drink hard liquor so I can’t really distinguish quality. Is this a good liquor to pour for the taste? I know taste is subjective but I guess I’m just looking for a second opinion.
