What alcohol should I bring to a colleagues house?

I’m staying at a colleague’s house for about five days and I would like to bring a gift. They are a big scotch drinker, so thought I might bring a nice bottle of that. I know people usually bring wine when going to someone’s place.

I’m not into alcohol so not really sure what the culture is and what would be expected. Is scotch ok to bring or should I bring wine? I won’t be drinking any myself so personal preference does not play a role.
