Odds of Cirrhosis / Irreversible Liver Damage?

So, I’ve been drinking every night for about 7 years. I’ve had good spurts where drinking was limited to weekends but for the sake of a proper evaluation let’s ignore those.

I am a beer / and occasional wine guy. I’ve been sober now 6 weeks!!!

I am 27 and have been drinking every day for the last 7 years. My daily standard unit count is 5. I’ve never day drank and rarely touched the hard stuff.

I’ve had occasional outings of 10 drinks and more occasional outings of 3. But the vast majority are in the 4-6 range and would bet my bottom dollar my SU has a 5 in front of it not a 6. Even if it’s 5.99.

I last had a liver panel 6 months ago, while on vacation and averaging 6 per day (high for me). My liver numbers were normal. ALT was 35, AST was 25 and Alkaline Phosphatase was 65.

I recently went in patient rehab cause I was scared of withdrawing, the clinic (despite the profitability) said I probably didn’t need to be there. Is that true?

Anyway I spent 30 days there. I’m curious now sine they said that, if my odds of cirrhosis are low? It’s why I went in the first place… Cirrhosis + Withdrawals.

If I maintain sobriety or moderation as discussed at the clinic, is it likely I can dodge permanent liver damage?

Reason for post: someone in the clinic (another patient) said they heard cirrhosis is starting younger and with lower amounts of alcohol and it’s no longer just the folks who drink vodka.

FWIW, my Standard Units are based on 12 ounces of 5% beer.
