Alcohol recommendations

So I will be hanging out with a friend of mine and I am planning on buying the drinks, I would like some recommendations since I don’t drink that much and have only drunk some beer so far and want to try whiskey and other hard liquors. I am planning on staying at his place so need to worry about going home drunk.
