Can someone explain something to me?

So, I have never drank alcohol hence I have never been to a bar. I would like to be in a bar atmosphere for the vibes and potentially have my first drink/meet new people. I’m 24 btw.

My question is, what is the general rules of drinking bars? I live 30 mins away from downtown where all of the popular bars are at. Obviously I don’t want to drive home drunk. What do people do when they’re drunk and need to get back home? Does everyone just Uber home? I don’t get it..how can there be so many bars and no parking spots. Even one beer I’m not risking driving. Do people only visit bars within walking distance? Do some people really drive home drunk? The whole fascination with bars baffels me and the logistics of it is questionable.
