Bringing alcohol in checked bags through different MLDA provinces

I’m from Canada and in a few months I will be flying from one province with a drinking age of 18, to another with a drinking age of 19. I am currently 18 and want to bring a bottle of wine or some nice liquor for the family I will be staying with, but I’m worried that they will take it from me once I arrive due to not being the legal drinking age in that province.

If I put it in a checked bag will that still be an issue? Thanks in advance
