Does smelling alcohol lower inhibitions, make you feel tipsy?
Here’s a little background: I don’t drink alcohol, at all because I lack the proper enzyme to break it down properly. I get a severe reaction (itchiness, red skin, hives, fatigue) for up to week after exposure.
So anyway, I was out with some buddies at a bar Friday night when out of curiosity I googled if sniffing alcohol could get you drunk. I come across a wide variety of answers but there was pages dedicated to how just the smell alone could lower inhibitions, make you feel tipsy, etc.
So anyway, I grabbed my friend’s beer and just started sniffing it. I sniffed it on and off for like three minutes. I thought there was NO way in hell this would work.
Next thing I knew, I started feeling dizzy, I was laughing hard at stuff that just wasn’t funny, and I started being more sociable, talking to strangers (which is not something I usually do).
I even texted a female co-worker that I love her (wtf?).
I don’t know if it was just a placebo or what, but I definitely felt something. Just wanna know your thoughts.
