How do I clean a plastic bottle that had liquor but has since sat empty?

My aunt has recently gifted me an old plastic gourd bottle she found in her attic. I checked what was inside and while it was empty, I can tell by the smell residue that it used to contain liquor. I certainly can’t bring it back to college due to alcohol restrictions, no matter how minute. So is there a way to get rid of the residue & smell in the bottle? Thank you in advance.
