Alcohol tastes different the next day?

(I never drank alcohol before this)

Yesterday I bought a small bottle of vodka before an appointment because I was so anxious and drank half of it with the hope that it might help me be less scared. It tasted a bit bitter, but wasn’t too bad and I could drink it with no problem.

Today I started drinking the rest from the same bottle and it’s genuinely repulsive and I can barely get myself to drink it. It smells and tastes like hand sanitizer.

I’m not really sure why it tastes different now? Is there a reason why this may happen?
