SCADS DRIFTR 3.4% – 69p lager from Home Bargains

Picked this up in Home Bargains for just 69p, so expectations weren’t exactly sky high.

DRIFTR is only 3.4% and I was expecting something along the lines of Bud Light or Coors Light. It is definitely thin, but there’s a mild grain sweetness, a little floral character from the hops and a dry, lightly bitter finish.

And, surprisingly, I actually preferred it to Bud Light. I gave Bud Light 4/10 and this gets 5/10.

There’s also a surprisingly interesting story behind SCADS, who actually brews it, and why that 3.4% ABV could make a lot of sense for a beer this cheap.
