Need suggestions on a good bottle

I’m shipping out for the army here soon and I need suggestions on a good, solid bottle of liquor. I like whiskey so long as it doesn’t taste like pure smoke, but I’m open to any type. My budget is around $100 max but I can probably stretch it some more for the right stuff. TIA
