Sudden reaction to alcohol

Wonderful if anyone has experienced a sudden allergy to alcohol. The past 3 times I’ve drank enough to be drunk I have broken out in full body hives. It seems to be a histamine reaction/allergy but I’ve drank on and off for several years without anything like the happening, so I’m a little confused. I’m 1/4 Korean and have always experienced Asian flush pretty significantly, I’m used to my face becoming very red and hot, but splotchy hives over my entire body is new.

Additionally, the past few times I’ve drank I have experienced a sort of instant hangover within hours of drinking – head pounding, nausea, etc. I’ve had to take antihistamines twice due to the hives and mild swelling in my mouth. I take lithium, Seroquel, and haldol, but have been on them and drank previously without issue. I understand that the logical solution to this problem is just not drinking, and that I shouldn’t be drinking on the medications I take anyways, but it’s just so strange that this would happen with no apparent cause.

This has happened when I drink vodka, rum, or gin. Weeks prior to this starting I could drink vodka and beer with no reaction. I have no other allergies of intolerances to grains or anything. So I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar sort of emergent allergy and why this could be happening all of a sudden.
