(US) Suntory -196 Seltzer…10/10

I have never been compelled to public review a beverage and joined the sub just for this purpose, if that tells you anything. I’m not a true beer drinker but I love seltzers, especially fruity stuff that doesn’t even taste alcoholy. Somehow I’d never heard of this one til this past week.

The rebate promo (2nd pic) is what caught my attention, it’s for CA, FL, IL, and OH. You can get any variety- single, 8 or 12 pack- and they Venmo you the difference such that it only actually costs you $1.96+tax total. 1/person, must be bought in one of those states and you must give a residence address in them. Tragically OH does not have the 12 packs but I will be sending family to go buy more for me to enjoy over the summer at this price (25¢/can!)

Obviously I was going to try it either way at this price but I’m delighted to say I love the beverage, especially the more I learn about the brand/process. Suntory is a huge name in Japan. Turns out they also own such labels as Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, El Tesoro, Cruzan, DeKuyper, Baker’s Bourban, and Pinnacle vodka. These US cans are made in LaCrosse, WI. As you can see from pic 3, very manageable nutritionals. It’s also a very clean beverage.

They use liquid nitrogen to freeze whole fruits, rind seeds and all, down to -196°C (-320°F), pulverize it then infuse it into vodka. No artificial flavors used. Of the two I’ve tried, I would never have guessed they were alcoholic at all without seeing the 5.5% label. The one pictured literally tastes like a Capri Sun, dangerously good. There is a light carbonation to them but less than most seltzers.

Anyway I see very little talk of these online and plenty left in stock near me so I figured I’d spread the good word. You’re welcome Suntory, and any seltzer enjoyers here.
