Different types of alcohol have different effects. Why?

So I like to drink it all started at 7yrs old when my dad started giving me beer at the deer lease. I kinda stopped drinking about 10 then about 13 I started again. Around 16 I started smoking weed and drinking beer mostly. I ended getting hooked on benzos and fent way down the line. But I don’t understand I’m on Valium Xanax and temazapam at the moment. I drank beer while on all them it felt good. But when I switched to liquor it had no effect. I drank 1.5L of 90 proof and barely felt a thing no hangover or anything. So I stopped then I started to drink beer again. I felt more off 2 beers than all the liquor I drank. My question is why does liquor have no effect of on me. why does beer feel so much better it doesn’t make sense.
