Is it normal to feel body numbness when/after drinking alcohol?

Basically when i drink alcohol whether it be a can of beer or a vodka cocktail even if i am just tipsy my body starts to get numb. It isnt complete numbness but more like reduced sensation. I even feel it in my mouth sometimes and foods taste muted. I started drinking only some months ago and didnt feel like this when i first drank. I just want to know if its common because when i tried searching about it the results were all about alcoholic neuropathy and thats not what i seem to be experiencing.
