Review: Wines of Domaine Anderson, 2025 Releases
It’s time for another round with one of our favorite Anderson Valley wineries, Domaine Anderson, which focuses on chardonnay and pinot noir. Today we consider four bottlings, all from the 2022 vintage and released at the tail end of 2025.
2022 Domaine Anderson Estate Chardonnay – Surprisingly clean, surprisingly plain considering how this wine normally presents itself. Lemon and lime notes initially feel a little underripe, but they open up with time in glass and some warmth, at which point a light lick of vanilla and some marzipan begin to worm their way into the proceedings. The finish finds a light herbaceous quality, hinting at lime leaf, a classic Domaine Anderson tasting note. B+ / $40
2022 Domaine Anderson Chardonnay Fairhills Vineyard – Lively and refreshing, this single vineyard expression of Anderson Valley chardonnay showcases brisk citrus — lime leaf and some grated lemon peel — before notes of coconut and sesame provide a nuttier impact. Some vanilla, chewy with elements of guava and papaya, lingers on the finish, though the conclusion sees its upfront acidity being whisked away a bit too quickly. B+ / $50
2022 Domaine Anderson Estate Pinot Noir – Quite bright and floral, this very fruity expression of pinot noir bursts with strawberry and maraschino cherry notes, coming across as decidedly atypical for the varietal. A little time in glass helps some milk chocolate notes — noted in the 2021 vintage — and vanilla to surface, though the entire affair feels fairly straightforward. Moderated sweetness endures into the finish alongside the lightest hint of licorice candy. If you need a pinot to pair with dessert, this one fits the bill. B+ / $55
2022 Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir Pinoli Vineyard – Surprisingly soft and supple, this single vineyard offering is a clear highlight of the quartet, featuring layers of raspberry and cherry rolling into notes of bittersweet chocolate and some more ephemeral notes of marshmallow cream. There’s a pinch of acidity that evokes lemon curd as the finish approaches, which balances the finish beautifully, hinting at a sprinkle of fresh green herbs. Lingering elements on the finish include echoes of coffee and dried figs. Lovely. A / $70
