Whats the difference between high quality and low quality alcohol?

I’ve seen a few short videos of people making complicated alcoholic drinks, like a cube of sugar at the bottom of the cup, with an orange peel and all this other stuff, and then they pour Jack Daniels over it, and most of the comments are usually something like “this is the equivalent of putting $3000 rims on a 2002 Honda civic” so that really made me wonder what the differences are between something very high end, and something average like Jack Daniels. I’ve never had whiskey before so I have literally no knowledge on this topic
